We at Brightstar can fit, maintain and repair your Vented or Unvented hot water cylinders.

Hot water cylinders provide constant pressure hot water around your home, Ideal if you have a power shower. As sometimes combi boilers have a job to keep up with the constant demand.

To fit any hot water cylinder you must be a fully qualified installer, and you must also apply for building regulations…..Unless you have an installer that is a member of the competent persons scheme like Brightstar. We can install your hot water cylinder and sign it off without you having the hassle of applying for building regulations.

All work will be fully compliant with building regulations you just don’t need to apply, we take care of everything.

Without proper installation these cylinders can be dangerous, the same as your gas boiler so need a qualified engineer to install and maintain them.

  1. Who can install a Megaflo or Unvented hot water system?

Unvented hot water systems should only be installed and serviced by a qualified and competent person holding a current G3 Unvented Qualification. It is extremely important that the system is correctly installed, together with all essential safety controls. Building Regulations require all installations of unvented hot water cylinders to be notified to Building Control. If the installer is a member of a Competent Persons Scheme, this will happen automatically, and the customer will receive a Building Regulation Compliance certificate

Hot water Cylinders (Vented)

We can install service and repair all Types of vented hot water storage   cylinders, if it’s a replacement cylinder you require or a fault with your existing system that needs attention we can help. Also we can inspect your cylinder and check its correct operation and compliance with current industry standards.

Some existing hot water cylinders are heated solely by the use of an immersion heater. Due to a number of high profile scolding incidents which have resulted in fatalities, any new immersion heater must now be compliant with the requirements of BS EN 60335-2-74.

The standard requires that the heater contain:

: An operating thermostat which can be adjusted to user requirements (normally 60-65 degrees celsius).

: An overheat thermostat which is set by the manufacturer to operate at a temperature typically 80 degrees Celsius. The overheat thermostat is of a non self-resetting type meaning that when it activates it must be re-set by the plumber after the fault has been investigated.

An immersion Heater is a relatively cheap component to replace!! So If it’s not to current standards and potentially dangerous, Get it replaced now!
