Electric under floor heating

In an electric system there are a series of small wires that go under your flooring. Generally it would be installed under a tiled floor but can be installed under any flooring provided the carpet is no more than 1.5 tog.

Overall the cost of installing an electric system is cheaper than a water system. But the running costs are more, and for this reason it’s not generally recommended for large areas.

Water under floor heating systems

According to the energy saving trust, this is the most cost effective way of  heating your home.

Because the heat emitted from a water under floor system is more evenly distributed than a single radiator, the system can use water at a lower temperature.

There are a lot of factors that influence how efficient an under floor heating system can be overall. Such as how well your home is insulated, or if the room is on the ground floor or not.
